We can now announce East London based The Troxy, as our venue for NYE in the capitol.

Despite the multitude of music spaces dotted around the capital, few can lay claim to such a varied and impressive history as The Troxy, situated just East of the City. The Troxy has seen a wide array of uses since its inception in 1933 as one of George Coles’ grand cinemas, which was at the time the largest in the entire country. It has run the gamut from glamorous film screenings to an opera house, a Mecca bingo hall and now, in the present day, a host venue for special one-off shows. Recent years have seen the likes of New Order, Bonobo, Pixies and soon to be Flying Lotus all utilising the venue. On December 31st dollop will be joining their ranks as they throw their inaugural London New Year’s Eve party at The Troxy.

With a vast space and the original art-deco interior still intact, as well as a fully retooled PA system that makes use of the excellent acoustic design, not to mention five bars, The Troxy makes a welcome change from more commonplace venues, serving as a truly unique location in which to see 2012 out. With headliner Julio Bashmore the sole announced so far, but plenty more heavy-hitters to come, it makes perfect sense for dollop to join that rich lineage, investing in a timeless venue as it looks to move forward into the new year.
